Guild Wars 2 Halloween Events

In-game events for Halloween in Guild Wars 2 have been announced and will be appearing on the live servers on October 22nd. Referred to as the “Shadow of the Mad King” on ArenaNet’s event site, the festivities will include decorations, new mini-games, new dynamic events, new items on the Black Lion Company trading post, paid PVP tournaments, and other occurrences as Tyria evolves.

The history of Halloween is noted as being a long one throughout Tyria with the spirit of the Mad King Thorn showing up to spread insanity while cavorting amongst the peoples throughout the lands. Although this crazy spirit has not been seen in 250 years, rumors are surfacing of a return during this Halloween season.

Shadow of the Mad King is the first major release for Guild Wars 2 and will occur over a one week period in-game.
Apparently during Halloween the barriers between realms are the weakest and all sorts of madness occurs. For players, this will mean an act in 4 parts that runs live on servers from Oct 22nd-Oct 31st.

The Black Lion Trading company, the trading post/auction house in Guild Wars 2 will have Halloween costumes and transforms available during this period. The new transforms will allow you to play Costume Brawl with fellow costumed players.

PVP paid tournaments will be available for competitive, five-person teams. These tournaments require tickets to enter and give better prizes than normal tournaments. Participating teams will earn qualifier points that will allow them to compete in future, larger tournaments. Tournament tickets can be earned from winning normal tournaments or purchased in the Gem Store.

Tyria will be evolving with new events, jumping puzzles, bosses, mini-dungeons, and achievements appearing across a variety of maps.

It sounds like the wait for news was worth it and there should be a ton of activities during the week of Halloween for Guild Wars 2 players to partake in and enjoy whether they prefer PVP or PVE.
