Guild Wars 2 Lost Shores Events

November’s update for Guild Wars 2 is bringing new challenges and events to players all across Tyria. Much like the Halloween events recently, players will be raised to level 80 for those events that they need maximum level for. This weekend from

Nov. 15-18th will see players inviting friends for a weekend trial and introducing new areas, items, and permanent changes to the world of Tyria.

For the trial, existing Guild Wars 2 players will be able to invite three of their friends to participate in the entire weekend of festivities. The free trial begins on Nov. 15th at 9am PST.

Then on Nov. 16th the Lost Shores events get underway at 12pm PST and will run until the 18th with new content added daily. Lion’s Arch has already seen changes from beached whales, strange signs hinting at sea monsters, to strange ships both above and below the waves. The first day of the event will introduce players to the karka, a strange undersea race that will ravage the shores of Lion’s Arch. Then on Nov. 17th (again underway at 12pm PST) the players get to counterattack this waterborne race in a new map of their lair, a lost island at the edge of the Sea of Sorrows called Southsun cove. For the final day, Nov.18th players will face the ancient race of karka on the new map in a one-time do or die event starting at 12pm PST.

The events will offer unique rewards, and a new crafting resource with 200 new recipes.

Also on the list of new items for this month are new Lost Shores event items from the Black Lion Trading Post, and a new beta PVP map called Temple of the Silent Storm. This new map is more vertical than other PVP maps we have seen and the developers will be listening to players on their concerns before entering it into the PVP map rotation.

A new dungeon called Fractals of the Mists is on the way as well. This is a series of mini-dungeons or fractals that get harder as players progress. Rewards include a new back slot item, new weapon sets and a new type of item referred to as Ascended.

Ascended items are somewhere between exotic and legendary status, and will serve to close the gap that players have mentioned as being too severe in-game. This should be a great addition, as exotics have become too easy to get, and legendary are almost impossible for the casual player to attain. Arena.net developers are addressing these concerns with the inclusion of these new artifacts that can be improved with a new upgrade type called fusions, which are obtainable in the new dungeon areas.

These all sound like great additions to the game world of Tyria, and promise to bring players a monthly update packed with new activities and dangers. More info can be found over on the Guild Wars 2 wiki found here.
